New American Portraits!

I am pretty excited about the buzz surrounding portrait artist Daniel Edwards.
For one, he's a contemporary American artist - and we don't hear much about that in the media...

Another thing I like about him is that he's certainly involved with Pop Art, which is a favorite of mine. Public domain images (in Daniel's case, it's the public figures of popular culture) that seem to be addressing celebrity and how our culture obsesses over famous people. Not only does the public fawn over some pretty hollow stories, but the individual celebrity is owned in some way by the public.

Mr. Edwards is a skilled sculptor, trained as a monument sculptor. He continues to work in cast bronze. His sculptures make me aware of how  important of a relationship Justin Beiber and Selina Gomez seem to have.
